Event Lead Capture
Working the booth
Kiosk mode, business-card scanning, hold and recall.
There are two ways leads get captured, and most stands use both.
Self-serve — the visitor scans
The default. Your QR is on the stand, the visitor scans it with their own phone and fills the form in their browser. Nothing to hand over, nothing to install, and it keeps working while your staff are talking to someone else.
Because they submit on their own mobile data, a bad venue Wi-Fi doesn't stop you the way a shared scanner would.
Kiosk mode — your staff capture
Put a tablet or spare phone on the stand, open the booth's capture page and choose Booth staff? Switch to kiosk mode.
Kiosk mode changes the page for repeated use:
- After each submit the form clears and stays open for the next person, instead of showing a thank-you screen.
- A running count shows how many you've captured.
- Leads captured here are marked as source rep, so you can tell staff-captured from self-serve later.
Hold, Recall and Reset
Three buttons appear under Submit. They exist for the moment a queue forms:
- Hold — park a half-finished lead. The form clears so you can serve the next person.
- Recall — bring the parked lead back, exactly as you left it.
- Reset — clear the form without saving.
Hold keeps one lead at a time. If you hold a second before recalling the first, the first is replaced — finish or recall before parking another.
Scanning a business card
When someone hands you a card, use Scan business card in the new-lead dialog. Point the camera at it and the name, email, phone, company and title fill themselves in.
Always glance over the result before saving — cards with unusual layouts, heavy styling or low contrast can be misread, and it's much easier to fix now than after the show.
The card image is used to read the text and is not stored.
Practical tips from the floor
- Test the QR at actual stand height with a phone held at arm's length, in the lighting you'll actually have.
- Print more than one. A QR on the counter, one on the backdrop, one on a table tent — visitors capture themselves while you're busy.
- Agree the rating scale with your team before day one. A 5 from one rep and a 5 from another should mean roughly the same thing, or the scores are noise.
- Add notes while it's fresh. The note you write at the stand is worth more than the one you reconstruct on the train home.
