Quizzes and exams
Mark correct answers, set points, pass marks and timers.
Turn any form into a self-grading quiz by marking which answers are correct. Scoring happens the moment someone submits — you don't mark anything by hand.
Set up scoring
Step 1 — Turn on scoring
Open the form's Scoring tab and enable it.
Step 2 — Mark the correct answers
For each choice question, tick the correct option and give it points. Different questions can be worth different amounts — a two-point question simply matters twice as much.
Step 3 — Set a pass mark
Give a percentage. Anyone at or above it passes; the response is stored with a pass/fail flag you can filter by.
Step 4 — Decide what they see
Choose whether the respondent sees their score immediately, and whether they see which answers were wrong.
Only visible questions are scored. If conditional logic hid a question, it isn't counted in the total — so two people taking different branches are both scored out of what they were actually asked.
Threshold feedback
On the top tier you can write different closing messages per score band — one for 80%+, another for a fail, with study material. It's the difference between a test that grades and a test that teaches, and most competing form tools don't do it.
Timers
Give the form a time limit and a countdown appears for the respondent. When it expires the form submits with whatever has been answered.
Use a timer for assessment, not for surveys — a countdown on a feedback form reads as pressure and costs you completions.
Shuffling
Shuffle question order, option order, or both. Useful when people are sitting the same test in the same room; less useful when the questions build on each other, so check the flow still makes sense after shuffling.
Keeping it honest
For anything that matters, combine:
- Identity verification — respondents confirm their email with a code before starting
- One attempt — no retaking until they get lucky
- Access codes or email invites — only invited people can open it at all
Sit your own exam once, end to end, on a phone before sending it out. Timers, shuffling and one-attempt limits interact in ways that are obvious in a real run-through and invisible in the builder.
Re-grading
If you published with a wrong answer key, fix the key and re-grade — existing responses are rescored against the corrected version, so you don't have to void the results and start again.
